So, why buy a netbook?

With bigger screens, better graphics and larger keyboards than their trail blazing predecessors, the modern netbook is a smart investment. It contains enough serious hardware to make it great for internet surfing on the move, without compromising on screen quality or user experience. Today’s mini-notebooks can even play full screen movies without any difficulty, thanks to better hardware under the hood and development investment from the biggest names in computing; think Acer, Dell, Compaq, HP, Fujitsu.

If you’re conscious of the credit crunch and saving rather than spending but are desperate for a new PC, a netbook is the wallet friendly alternative to a costly laptop. The ultra-portable machines are designed to be pocket friendly, with prices starting from as little as £200. For that small investment, you benefit from some serious hardware and preferred operating systems such as Windows XP.

The small price tag doesn’t mean small performer as netbooks can be personalised and upgraded thanks to the large choice of netbook accessories currently on the market.  Choose a HP Mini Note Pc for example and you’ll enjoy great value computing on the move from day one. If however you decide you need additional hardware to enhance your user experience, choose from a huge range of netbook accessories such as specialist netbook memory upgrades, HP Mini Note external drives (DVD and CD), car kits and extended batteries for longer computing on the go.

Having shed their second PC moniker, notebooks such as the Dell inspiron mini 10 and Samsung NC10 come fully loaded for some intensive computing. The mini notebooks are suitable for most levels of usage you would get from a traditional laptop, making them a great buy for all the family; they make a great accompaniment to business travel thanks to their small in statue, big in performance functionality. The kids will love the ease of internet browsing and, they’re small enough to be carried from room to room. Even older siblings will be able to make the most of the purchase as they are portable enough to make an ideal study aide and can be carried from class to class along with textbooks and folders.

What makes a netbook different?

If you’ve never purchased a netbook before, you may be wondering how it differs from a regular notebook or lap top. The main physical difference is in the size, with a smaller screen and slightly smaller keyboard for all important portability. However, what a netbook lacks in size it makes up for in sheer functionality with an abundance of web centric additions for supersized net browsing – most come with a web cam, all have Wi-Fi functionality for wireless browsing, expect an abundance of USB ports and a card reader for uploading images. And, if the netbook you opt for doesn’t have enough memory or you want to add even more, you can do so with a choice of netbook accessories.
